ANTONOVICH WELCOMES HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR EVA SCHLOSS-GEIRINGER, STEP-SISTER OF ANNE FRANK TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich honored Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss-Geiringer, the step-daughter of Otto Frank and the step-sister of Anne Frank, at the weekly meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
The Geiringer family and the Frank family were neighbors in Amsterdam. Both families were sent to concentration camps where Anne Frank, her mother and sister as well as Eva’s father and brother died.
After being liberated from Auschwitz in April 1945, Eva and her mother returned to Amsterdam on the same transport as Otto Frank. Eva’s mother, Fritzi, married Otto in June 1945 and settled in Basel, Switzerland.
Eva moved to London in the early 1950’s and married Zvi Schloss. They have three children and five grandchildren.
Eva is one of the co-founders of the Anne Frank Trust and since 1990 has been a trustee of the charity. She was awarded a member of the Order of the British Empire by her Majesty the Queen for her services to holocaust education. She has worked tirelessly since the publication of her first book, Eva’s Story to teach the lessons of the holocaust to countless people around the world.
