LOS ANGELES COUNTY — Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has appointed Liz Seipel to the Los Angeles County Commission for Children and Families.
A resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, Seipel has been an educator for more than 40 years. She began her teaching career at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Pre-School in Valencia. In 1976, with support from her collogues, she formed the St. Stephens Special School which is now the Child & Family Center of the Santa Clarita. Seipel serves on the Auxiliary and Advisory Committee for the Child & Family Center and is a longtime member of the Santa Clarita Sunrise Rotary Club.
The Commission for Children and Families was established by the Board of Supervisors more than 20 years ago to monitor and evaluate progress of recommendations to improve child safety and welfare. The Commission reviews all programs administered by County departments; monitors legislation; receives input from community groups and stakeholders; and provides recommendations to department heads and the Board of Supervisors to improve children’s services.
