LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich applauded Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris’ decision to appeal a federal judge’s ruling that the death penalty is unconstitutional.
“Californians have consistently supported the death penalty as a necessary and just punishment to deliver justice for murder victims, their families, and society,” Antonovich said.
In his ruling last month, U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney noted that it’s ‘the dysfunctional administration of California’s death penalty that is at issue – not the efficacy of capital punishment itself.
