LOS ANGELES COUNTY — Mayor Michael D. Antonovich welcomed Rev. Dr. Mariko Yanagihara from New Hope Church in Pasadena to the Board of Supervisors to deliver the invocation to open the meeting.
Rev. Dr. Mariko Yanagihara received her Masters of Divinity from the San Francisco Theological Seminary and became the first Japanese American woman to be ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She has served as a pastor in several diverse settings and as Associate Executive Presbyter in San Gabriel Presbytery. She currently serves as a pastor at New Hope Church in Pasadena, a church formed from a merger between a Korean speaking and English speaking congregation.
