Phillip Washington, who was selected unanimously by the MTA Board of Directors as the next Chief Executive Officer, begins his first day of service to Los Angeles County on May 11. Washington is a 24-year veteran of the United States Army where he held the rank of Command Sergeant Major, the highest non-commissioned officer rank an enlisted person can achieve. As the former general manager of the Regional Transportation District of Denver and the American Public Transportation Association’s 2013 “Outstanding Public Transportation Manager of the Year,” Mr. Washington brings a fresh approach to providing a countywide transportation system.
