LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich honored the 2015 Nisei Week Japanese Festival Queen and Royal Court at the Board of Supervisors.
Founded in 1934, the Nisei Week Japanese Festival was created to attract business to Little Tokyo and promote goodwill. During World War II the festival was suspended for several years, until 1949.
The festival, which celebrated its 75th anniversary, promotes Japanese culture and heritage through cultural exhibits, sporting events, martial arts exhibitions, street arts festival, grand parade and a car show.
