Mayor Michael D. Antonovich and Kathy Lynch,
Director of Programs for Wellness Works in Glendale
Mayor Michael D. Antonovich welcomed Kathy Lynch, Director of Programs for “Wellness Works” in Glendale to recognize her organization’s efforts to reduce veteran suicides in Los Angeles County.
According to the United States Department of Veteran Affairs, at least 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Young male veterans under the age of thirty are three times more likely to commit suicide when compared to civilian males of the same age.
On June 22, Wellness Works, along with community volunteers, stood guard over the Old Colorado Boulevard Bridge in Pasadena, known as Suicide Bridge, in an effort to bring awareness to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the risk of veteran suicides.
