Mayor Michael D. Antonovich released the following statement on the death of renowned political consultant, educator and commentator Allan Hoffenblum:
“This is a big loss. Allan was a wonderful friend, a brilliant political strategist and respected scholar. A true professional, he served as a key advisor on all my political endeavors including four times as my appointee to the Boundary Review Committee.
Allan was a decorated Air Force Intelligence Officer in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star. He joined the staff of the Los Angeles County Republican Party in 1968 organizing grassroots activities, voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts. He served as Staff Director of the Assembly Republican Caucus when I was the Republican Whip and worked for the California Republican Party as Political Coordinator.
Allan began his own political consulting firm in 1979, managing numerous federal, state, and local campaigns. A frequent political contributor on television and in print, Allan was widely known as the publisher of the California Target Book, the preeminent source for unbiased information on congressional and state legislative election campaigns throughout the state.
Christine and I send our condolences to his friends and family.
