Mayor Michael D. Antonovich has called on the Music Center to release all records and materials necessary to support a recent fiscal and programmatic audit conducted by the County Auditor-Controller.
The Music Center only allowed limited access to the Auditor-Controller after an audit was ordered by the Board of Supervisors. The Music Center’s position conflicts with written operating agreements between the private, nonprofit board and the county government. Those agreements give the county the right to audit all transactions relating to the Music Center. According to the audit, the financial records for the Music Center’s fundraising, arts education programs and performances were incomplete.
“The County Auditor needs access to all of the financial records to ensure that the County’s contribution is being maximized,” said Mayor Antonovich.
Mayor Antonovich has also asked the Board and CEO to engage with new Music Center CEO Rachel Moore to reenergize and further improve the operations of the Music Center.
