On a motion by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, the Board of Supervisors have ordered the Department of Regional Planning to report back on how the County can halt development of the proposed 314-unit Deerlake Ranch.
“Until a thorough investigation can take place regarding the cause of the Aliso Canyon gas leak and the precautions and safeguards necessary to prevent a failure of this magnitude again, it is not appropriate to build additional residential development in close proximity to Aliso Canyon,” Antonovich said.
Supervisor Antonovich recently asked the Local Agency Formation Commission to block the annexation of county property into the City of Los Angeles for the construction of the 188-unit Hidden Creek development. Antonovich also asked County agencies to look into redesignating the land as permanent open space.
